Robert Ellis is a UK based freelance photographer who started starting out in 1968. By 1971, he was working with New Musical Express, then Melody Maker, Sounds, Kerrang! and many overseas magazines.
“I traveled with bands on tours. I was a photographic ‘fly on the wall’ and flitted in and out of rooms as unobtrusively as possible. I preferred working with a band, but for magazines and newspapers. It enabled me to gain ‘Access All Areas’, a highly coveted status.
A lot of my photos did get used by bands and I was responsible for designing many a souvenir tour book or programme (as we Europeans call them). My work appeared on artwork for album sleeves, and a partial list of those sleeves is on the ‘about’ page of my Facebook profile. Follow me on the link below.
I started my limited-edition photo book series in 2014 under the brand name ‘The Rock Library’ and at the time of writing this (Aug 2019) am on book number 12.
So now it is time to launch something new. A series of limited edition Fine Art Prints of selected images from my back catalogue.”
