Manfred Becker
Vita Prof. Manfred Becker was shaped by the political awakening of the 1960/70s and the developing "CULTURAL REVOLUTION" of the Swinging Six + Seventies, the image of the global capitals from the gray-in-gray post-war mood transformed into a dazzling audiovisual color.
In the studying of VISUAL COMMUNICATION and the University of Wuppertal (1966 - 1970) he focused on typography, photography and motion graphics.
During this time, the political and culural movements on the European universities were reflected in the in the creative work for graphic design and photography. For Becker personaly, his interest in JAZZ and BLUES is inevitable
ROCK MUSIC the BEATLES "Baby, you can drive my car" about the ROLLING STONES to PETE TOWNSEND / THE WHO with "My Generation" or exceptional artists such as TOM WAITS, WILLY DE VILLE and IGGY POP.
After graduating and two years at the TV-station WDR in Cologne, Becker took on the offer of the Sounds Verlag and the art direction for the german music magazine SOUNDS belongs to. During this time he had given the chance to document the tours and stage events like the pop production of the original GENESIS and ROXY MUSIC world premiere in London (1973) until the first German feeling by DIRE STRAITS on the Waldbühne in Berlin and THE WHO in Frankfurt.
Becker appeared in parallel to TV design scenes for WDR from 1976 as a photographer for the TV show ROCKPALAST during the concert recordings (including Metropol Berlin, Hamburger Markthalle, Zeche Bochum, Midem Cannes) and at the big LIVE EVENTS of the legendary ROCKPALAST nights in the GRUGAHALLE Essen. The status as an exclusive photographer allowed a closeness to the musicians who are always reflected in the motifs.
In this time line Becker published in the German music magazines SOUNDS and MUSIK EXPRESS but also for specials e.g. in STERN and Der SPIEGEL; also in various book publications.
From 1988 at RTL TELEVISION as a creative director and head of presentation responsible for the transmitter's LOOK + FEEL, also for all measures of program and corporate design, promotion, advertising from RTL TELEVISION.
To this day, Becker works in the digital media productions and in training for young professionals as a professor for MOTION DESIGN at the Filmakademie Baden Württemberg in Ludwigsburg.
